A longtime staple of workers, professionals and students on the edge of the Providence-Pawtucket border, The Sandwich Hut was looking for a new storefront as it underwent a generational shift in its business. Our proposal updates the façade of the Sandwich Hut to match its new visual identity, and allows for the bustle of the shop to spill out onto the sidewalk. Enlarged windows let more natural light into the interior while making the lunchtime ritual of queuing up to order food visible from the exterior. A cedar bench and ‘lunch rail’ on the exterior offers customers a place to rest while getting a quick bite in good weather.
